Hokkaido

In Hokkaido, the best time to view autumn colors is expected to be the same as usual in most areas. Although there are some cyclical changes in weather, cold air masses are expected to arrive in mid-September, followed by many sunny days from late September to October. With necessary radiative cooling expected in the morning and evening, we expect many locations to offer some of the best viewing conditions of the year. The peak is expected around September 14 around Sugami Pond near Mount Asahi in Daisetsuzan National Park.

Tohoku

In the Northeast, this year's fall foliage is expected to be on par with previous years, or slightly later in many areas. Although the weather changes cyclically in September with more rainy days, the average temperature is expected to be higher than normal. Fukushima Prefecture's high-altitude Bandai-Higashi skyline and other mountain ranges will begin to color, and many famous sights that typically peak in early October may be at their best viewing later than usual.

Kanto

In the Kanto and Koshinobu regions, autumn foliage is expected to be the same as normal or slightly later in many areas. The best time to see the vibrant reds is around October 19th in Nagano Prefecture’s Kamikochi/Kappabashi area, and November 10th at Shosenkyo Gorge Yamanashi Prefecture, October 25 The winding roads of Iroha-Zaka, Tochigi Prefecture.

Hokuriku

In the Hokuriku region, many areas are expected to see the best fall colors this year, either on par with previous years or later. Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route Tateyama Murodoping in Toyama Prefecture, which is over 2,000 meters above sea level, has begun to change, and the area around Daikan peak in Toyama Prefecture will reach its peak around October 5.

Kansai

Many areas in the Kansai region are expected to have the same best autumn foliage as in previous years. Although the weather changes regularly, sunny days are expected to be plentiful. Average temperatures tend to be above normal, but on sunny days the necessary radiative cooling is expected to occur sooner or later to change colour, so we believe many famous attractions will be able to enjoy the same peak viewing times as in a normal year. Kyoto Arashiyama will be at its best starting around November 23rd.

Shikoku, Kyushu

In many areas of Chugoku, Shikoku and Kyushu, this year's autumn foliage is expected to be on par with previous years. The best viewing period around the mountains in Tottori Prefecture is around October 29th.
